Essentials to Pack for a Road Trip

July 17, 2019 5:40 am Filed to: Driving Guides by Jerry

So you’ve made sure to fully understand all the terms and conditions of your auto insurance coverage, most likely with the aid of this car insurance jargon buster and you’re all ready to head out on your road trip. Here are some essentials to pack, many of which may appear to be obvious at surface level, but should definitely not be taken for granted. Their usefulness in the most critical of road-trip scenarios are what make them so important.

Navigation equipment

Most cars these days come with a built-in navigation system which naturally makes for the primary one you’d use. If yours doesn’t then we all know about the most popular of these navigation systems available for sale. Either way, as much as you’d want your road trip to be an adventure, you don’t want to go looking for the sort of trouble that comes with getting lost.

GPS systems pretty much come standard with the latest smartphones too, but those would make for some secondary navigation devices to be used, if needs be, of course.

Power banks

Yours could very well be a road-trip which is embarked on for the purposes of sightseeing or for a very specific set of activities that perhaps have nothing to do with camping or anything like that. As a result, you’ll be happy to keep making use of the technological advancements which are contained in your electronic gadgets and gizmos, not least of which is your smartphone. So don’t feel guilty about taking all the gadgets you need with you, but be sure to pack in some power banks so that you have some back-up sources of power.

Refreshments and snacks

Trust me, as much as these days you can perhaps plan a route which encompasses clearly demarcated refreshment and snack breaks along the way, often you’ll find that you might not necessarily get what you’re craving at that specific moment. Either that or some of the places to stock up on refreshments take advantage of the fact that you probably have nowhere else to go and so the goods may be a tad bit expensive.

So stock up on some refreshments and snacks before you depart.

An old-style map

Just in case, it’s always good practice to have an old-style map in your glove box. We don’t want to pre-empt anything going wrong, but sometimes going back to basics does the trick.

Blanket and other camping gear

Even if you’re not necessarily going on an outdoor adventure road trip, pack in a blanket for each person along with other camping gear, like those fold-up camp chairs. It really does depend on where in the world the road trip is taking place, of course, but the thinking behind the blanket goes back to preparing for the worst. You don’t want to find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere, late in the night when it can get really cold and you don’t have access to the warmth which is otherwise generated by a perfectly working vehicle. If you would not like to invest in full-fledged camping gear, you could definitely get older products which tend to be marked down in price at e-stores such as REI Outlet (visit site) and alike.

However, do remember to also pack in a first-aid kit (including a flashlight) and a list of the emergency numbers you may need, including that of your car insurance service provider.
