Affordable Way to Own Your First Car

August 12, 2021 6:56 pm Filed to: Car Buying by Jerry

Most people can’t wait to start driving. In fact, you may even be so excited to drive that you change your test date so that you can get it out of the way as soon as possible. But once you’ve passed, you come to realise that you need a car. When people ask what the best car is, many people’s first answer is a new car. It is obvious that most people want a new car; after all, driving a car brand new makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. The perks of having your first car as many readers quickly pointed out, are far more than just cost. The ability to go places without your parents, meeting new friends easier, or just feeling young again, whether the car is parked in the driveway or on the road. New cars often also offer a sense of security and safety that older cars do not have, driving around with a friend instead of an escort, having someone watching your back while you drive could be just the kind of experience that makes driving safe.

But for some, that’s not enough. They’d rather get the feel of driving a car that they’ve already owned rather than starting over with a brand new car. There are some great deals on used cars, however. Often, these deals can come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind that you’ll be driving a car that was properly maintained. If anything should go wrong, you’ll be able to return it and have it fixed or get a refund from the warranty company.

Perhaps you have always longed to drive to work in the morning, sit down at your desk, and start driving home from work. This is a wonderful dream for some people. However, for others, this dream simply isn’t possible. Because you don’t know how to drive to work in the morning when you’re first time out of your house, your best bet is to drive a rental car for the first few months of driving until you finally master the skills to drive home. Renting a car will help you build up the driving skills you need to eventually be able to own your own car.

For those who are on a budget, a rent a car budget is ideal. You can drive a car that has been repossessed by a bank due to your inability to pay your loan. You can also choose a vehicle that is only one or two years old, but will still be heavily used. Some options are a Honda prelude, Ford Focus, Alta Corsa, or Nissan Quest. All three of these options are affordable and will get you out on the roads soon enough to start honing driving skills.

Once you have your driving test, you may have some questions about your car loan. One option is to ask for a car loan from a local bank or credit union. While their interest rates and fees are higher than for online lenders, many banks offer special financing deals for first car buyers. Also, if you can, apply for a car loan through the dealership that you are purchasing your car from. Most major car manufacturers offer special financing deals for new car purchases through their dealerships.

The most important lesson to learn about driving is not how to drive, but why you must drive. By realizing that driving is not just a fun pastime, but rather a necessary routine you will see that driving will become an everyday task that you look forward to rather than dreading it. For most people, driving is one of the first things they do in life. If you follow my advice, owning a green dragon car will be much easier.
